Call Control Options for Enabled Phones

Best Practices:

  • Add frequently called numbers/individuals to your Skype for Business contact list and numbers that you frequently transfer calls to using the Skype for Business desktop software. If the phone is set up as a department phone, you may need to get help from your local tech support staff.
  • Change devices (moving from a headset to the handset) by using the Park option.
  • Use Blind transfer to transfer a number without talking to the intended recipient first.
  • Use Consultative transfer to speak with the intended recipient before transferring the call to them.

How to place a call on hold and resume a call with a Skype for Business-enabled phone:

  1. To place a call on hold, select Hold using the touch screen or button under the option. Select Resume using the touch screen or button under the option to continue the call.

How to mute or unmute a call:

  1. On the phone, press the mute button (microphone with a slash through it).

Blind transferring a call to a phone number:

Note: Use Blind transfer to transfer a number without talking to the intended recipient first.

  1. Select Transfer, using the touch screen or button under the option.
  2. Enter the ten-digit number starting with area code (###-###-####).
    Note: you can select a Favorite, by clicking on your name in the upper left-hand corner.
  3. Touch Dial or the green phone icon, or press the button under Send (phone models without touch screens).
  4. The call will be transferred.

Consultative transferring a call to a favorite contact:

Note: Use Consultative transfer to speak with the intended recipient before transferring the call to them.

  1. Press and hold Transfer using the touch screen or the button under the option.
  2. Select Consultative using the touch screen or button beside the option and then the button by Select.
  3. Enter the ten-digit number starting with the area code (###-###-####). Or, you can select a Favorite contact by pressing on your name in the upper left-hand corner to access your favorites and then choose a contact by touching the name or the button beside the person.
  4. Touch Dial or the green phone icon, or press the button under Send (phone models without touch screens).
  5. Once you have talked to person, select Transfer or the button under that option to transfer the call. Or, touch Cancel or the corresponding button to cancel and talk to the caller again.

Parking a call:

  1. Select Park, using the touch screen. If using a button-style phone, press the buttons below More then Park
  2. You will see the three- or four-digit number to retrieve the parked call. Anyone using Skype for Business can dial that number using a phone or the interface to retrieve the call.
  3. Select Retrieve to retrieve it.

How to add others to a call:

Note: You will not be able to first speak to the person or people who you are conferencing in. You may want to put the call on hold and call first.

  1. Select Confrnc, using the touch screen. If using the button-style phone, select the button near More then Confrnc.
  2. Using the keypad, dial the ten-digit number (###-###-####).
  3. Touch Dial or the green phone icon, or press the button under Send (phone models without touch screens).

How to use the dial pad for menus:

  1. Use the dial pad like you would a cell phone for touch key options.
