Sponsored Temporary Accounts
Sponsored Temporary Accounts provide access to electronic services for campus temporary hires (non-HR), contractors, vendors, guests, groups, etc.
University of Kansas departments and employees frequently host non-KU affiliated individuals and groups. Many of these circumstances create a need for a temporary online ID in order for the visitor to access campus services and computers. Examples of these circumstances include temporary workers, vendors, visiting scholar programs, summer workshops, community training programs, or various other types of sponsored events.
To accommodate these needs, KU Information Technology has created Temporary Sponsored Accounts. KU IT requires the Temporary Sponsored Account to be tied to the individual user, and the user must be sponsored by a campus department (to ensure the account user follows acceptable use guidelines, as stated in KU Policy). A KU IT Temporary Sponsored Account requires the user to set up his or her online ID, using the KU online ID account set up pages.
Information for Sponsors:
To initiate the approval process for a KU Temporary Sponsored Account, please select the request type below (individual or group accounts). After submission, KU IT Account Management staff will forward the request for IT security approval and contact you with access information. If you have questions prior to being contacted by KU IT Account Management, please call 864-0439.
Information for Visitors:
After your sponsor has requested a Temporary Sponsored Account for you and received approval confirmation and an id number from KU IT, you must set up your online ID using the KU online ID account set up page.
