About the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

U.S. copyright law and the federal Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) outline specific steps that Internet Service Providers like KU and its subcontractors must take when their users violate copyright laws.

KU acts quickly to respond to complaints of copyright violation received from copyright owners and their representatives, such as the Motion Picture Association of America, the Recording Industry Association of America, the Interactive Digital Software Association and the Business Software Alliance. For details applicable to KU students, faculty and staff using the KU network, see KU’s Acceptable Use of Electronic Information Resources Policy.  For details applicable to KU students residing in campus housing, see the Apogee End User Agreement.

Communications about DMCA Violations

Official communications concerning copyright infringements will be made through KU’s email system.
