Defending Against Coronavirus Cyber Scams

The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) has noticed a rise in COVID-19 (coronavirus)-related cyber scams. The agency issued a communication with tips and reminders for protecting yourself. KU IT encourages you to read the message and forward it to anyone you think appropriate.

The best course of action when you believe you have received a suspicious email is to avoid clicking on any links or attachments and do not reply. Instead, forward suspicious messages to KU IT Security at abuse@ku.edu then delete the message.

KU’s Office of Public Affairs has created a coronavirus-related website outlining our university’s planning efforts around the outbreak. Please check the site frequently and be sure your friends and colleagues are aware of it. Also, sign up at alerts.ku.edu to receive campus closure and other emergency text notifications.
