Description

KU encourages all departments to use multifunction devices (MFDs) instead of traditional copy machines and printers. One MFD provides the functionality of a printer, copier, scanner and fax machine all from one device.

Most departments/units have one or more MFDs in work areas for faculty, staff and student employee printing, copying and scanning needs.

Standard MFD Features Optional MFD Features
Copy Fax (requires a phone line.)
Print Finisher, including stapling, booklet finishing and hole punch.
Secure print Tri-fold capabilities
Scan to USB Optional Paper Capacity, including adding extra paper trays.
Scan to email Keyboard for easier log in and system interaction.
Collate Embedded PaperCut.
Controlled access to network print features through PaperCut.  
Controlled access to walk-up features through authentication.  
Tracking by "code" (grants, projects, etc.)  
Ability to add other devices to the print management system.  
Automatic meter reads (on standard configured devices).

Contact KU Procurement for information about multifunction devices (MFD) costs. KU's contract offers a variety of options so departments can obtain the right device for their needs.
