Training & Workshops

KU IT offers free training sessions throughout the year to help faculty, staff and students use a variety of software packages more effectively. We have regularly scheduled Technology Training Workshops that are open to anyone, as well as group sessions or individual consultations that can be customized to meet the needs of faculty and staff. View the Workshops Calendar for upcoming opportunities.

We offer instruction on the following software and services:

Microsoft Office:

iPad Productivity
Basic Computer Skills

KU IT Services:
Skype for Business

Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend training sessions located at various campus labs throughout campus. See a complete listing of Technology Training Workshops.

Specialized Instruction by Request:

Specialized instruction is only available to faculty and staff.

Desk-side Coaching:
Meet with a KU IT Trainer and receive customized, one-on-one assistance based on your needs.

Limits on Desk-side Coaching Appointments

Due to limited resources, we're only able to offer up to three desk-side coaching appointments per person per year. A desk-side coaching appointment is anytime we meet with you one-on-one. To make the most out of desk-side coaching appointments, we ask that you supply us with as much information as possible about your goals for the session and, if possible, send us any files that are related to your request so that we can prepare for our meeting.

If you have colleagues that are interested in learning the same type of information, we can coordinate a small workshop that will not apply to the desk-side coaching limit. Please remember that your technology support staff can be a great resource when trying to trouble shoot issues with your computer or software.

Department Training:
Departments can request customized training for their staff. Sessions might range from a one-time workshop to a multi-session training series. This training can take place at the department’s office space, or a training lab can be reserved for the session.

Course Training:
Instructors can request KU IT trainers to lead one-time or multi-session class training workshops on specific software which is required knowledge for that class or a specific assignment.

See "Access" to request specialized instruction.

Self-paced Online Learning:

Self-paced online instructional materials are available for some our services.
