KU IT Trivia!

Introducing: KU IT Trivia!

Starting this month, we invite you to participate in the monthly KU IT trivia challenge! Test your tech knowledge for a chance to win a gift card.

This month’s question:

In 1999, Shigetaka Kurita invented what keyboard additions for cell phones that would eventually replace emoticons and even get their own movie?

To enter, email your answer to kucio@ku.edu by Sept 30. Winners will be announced in next month’s edition of the KU IT newsletter. Prizes are limited to one student and one employee each month.

"Skype to Teams Migration"

Phone Calls Are Moving to Teams

KU IT has been planning over the past year for the transition of our phone service from Skype for Business to Teams. As we’ve previously shared, Microsoft is retiring Skype for Business in January 2024.

We began migrating IT staff this summer to smooth out any issues before a broader rollout. Our goal is to make this as seamless as possible for the entire KU community.

Equipped with insights from the KU IT staff pilot, we will begin working with units across campus to finalize migration timelines. You and your colleagues will receive detailed information as your unit’s specific transition plan is finalized. If you want to be an early adopter and start using Teams to make phone calls before your unit is officially migrated, complete our early adopter form.
