Be First in Line to Make Phone Calls in Microsoft Teams

KU currently uses Skype for Business as our campus phone service. Microsoft is officially retiring Skype for Business and encouraging organizations to transition to Microsoft Teams before Skype for Business support is discontinued for good.

KU Information Technology is working to transition our campus phone service from Skype for Business to Teams over the next several months. Our plan is to work with unit leaders and technical support staff to move their faculty and staff as a group. However, we are opening the opportunity for you move early and discover the full benefits of Microsoft Teams.

Complete the online form below if you would like to be among the first on campus to make and receive phone calls in Microsoft Teams.

More About Microsoft Teams

If you haven’t already, we recommend familiarizing yourself with Microsoft Teams now so you can take advantage of the chat, video meeting, phone, document collaboration and application integration all in one place. Our HowtoKU website provides many resources to help you get to know Microsoft Teams.

Is Calling Different in Teams?

Making and receiving phone calls in Teams is very similar to Skype for Business. The USB headsets currently used with Skype for Business should generally work fine with Teams. Some models of desk phones or conference phones may require reconfiguration or replacement. We are still researching phone model compatibility and developing solutions as part of our project planning.
