Classroom Technology Orientations

With classes right around the corner, now is the perfect time to reach out to Classroom Technologies for an orientation to the technology in your assigned classroom this fall. Simply call 785-864-1200, any weekday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we'll provide you with all the information you need about your classroom setup. Better yet, we’re happy to meet you in person at the room and walk you through the equipment, helping facilitate a smooth and confident start to the semester.

"Skype to Teams Migration"

Phased Migration will Begin in September

KU IT has spent the summer preparing for the transition of campus phone service from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams, including testing the transition plan on all KU IT staff. KU IT will begin outreach to select departments to review and schedule migrations beginning in September. We’ll work with your department leadership to identify an appropriate timeline, along with any special considerations for the project. With your help, the phased migration across campus is expected to finish in December 2023. To learn more about everything Microsoft Teams can do for you and your team, you can get started with Microsoft Teams at HowTo.ku.edu.

"Canvas Course Merge"

Course Merge tool in Canvas

A new tool has been added to Canvas that makes it easier for instructors to merge multiple sections into a single course. No more manually adding students and content across multiple sites! With the Course Merge tool, you can quickly merge users, content, and settings from multiple courses into one central hub for your cross-listed class. For information on how to use this new time-saving feature, visit our course merge resource page.

Educational technology resources are available to provide instructors with the support they need for the new semester. "Classroom Updates"

Over the summer break, Operations and KU IT have been hard at work refreshing select classrooms. The upgrades include new carpet, paint and flexible seating to accommodate diverse teaching styles, along with advanced technology to support hybrid and collaborative teaching strategies. We look forward to welcoming students back to these transformed spaces this fall.
