In an effort to further improve campus email security, KU IT has activated Microsoft’s Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). Roughly 500,000 emails are sent to KU email users each day. Most of these emails are spam and, in some cases, they are malicious.
In recent weeks, the KU Information Technology Security Office (ITSO) has seen an increase in email attacks with impersonators trying to reroute employee paychecks. Other attacks try to convince recipients to bypass normal purchasing or financial processes.
