Description

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a version of the Linux operating system (OS) to manage computer hardware, software resources, and provide common services for computer programs.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a Linux distribution produced by Red Hat and targeted toward the commercial market. KU’s site license includes access to the Red Hat Network (RHN). RHN provides tools for departmental technical support staff to efficiently manage their systems including provisioning new systems and managing updates.

Red Hat Linux is installed on select KU-managed workstations by request.

Faculty and staff should contact their department IT support staff, or the Customer Service Center at 785-864-8080 or itcsc@ku.edu for Red Hat Linux installation on KU workstations.

Red Hat Linux operating system for personal/home computers is available directly through Red Hat.

A free version of Linux for personal/home computers is also available through the fedora website.

Download and installation support is available through the KU Information Technology Customer Service Center at itcsc@ku.edu or 785-864-8080.

The campus site license does not include technical support for Red Hat.
