Respondus helps instructors create and facilitate online exams. There are two separate components to Respondus:
Respondus Exam Creator:
Respondus Exam Creator is a powerful software tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to Blackboard. Respondus Exam Creator users enjoy the ability to create assessments offline using an expanded number of question types (including calculated a algorithmic formats). After setup, Respondus Exam Creator enables one-click uploading to Blackboard courses.
Respondus LockDown Browser:
Respondus LockDown Browser prevents a user from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during an assessment. If an online exam or assessment requires that Respondus LockDown Browser be used, the exam won’t be accessible with a standard web browser. Respondus LockDown Browser installs a separate program that displays a custom interface and set of features for Internet Explorer or Safari.
KU faculty, staff and GTAs can download Respondus for use on one office computer and one home computer through the KU Web Store. Please note that providing the Respondus software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with KU is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus. Note: You must have administrator privileges on your computer to be able to install the software.
