Printing for Students

Students can print, copy and scan using multifunction devices (MFDs) in computer labs and KU Libraries locations across the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. Using campus MFDs requires log in with your KU Online ID and password.

Express Printing

Express or Quick Print workstations allow users to print quickly from a USB drive, email attachment or web storage without logging in to the computer. Users must log in using their KU Online ID and password when prompted, and their KU card must have sufficient funds to print. Use of the Express Print station is limited to a maximum of five minutes per session.

Express printing is available in the following locations: Anschutz Library; Watson Library; BEST Open Computing Lab (Edwards); Regents Center "Hawks Nest" (Edwards); Murphy Art & Architecture Library; and Spahr Engineering Library.

Print from Anywhere

Print from Anywhere allows you to print from your personal computer, laptop or mobile devices to multifunction printers located in computer labs, libraries and other campus locations.

Cost

Scanning is free, and scanned documents can be saved to a thumb drive or sent to your KU email address. Printing and copying costs are $0.08 per page for black and white and $0.48 for color.

You will need available funds in your Beak 'Em Bucks account connected to your KU Card to print. When you log in to a campus computer, you will see the amount of printing funds available. Be sure to log off the computers when you are done so that others cannot use your account to print.

Free Printing

Currently enrolled students at KU are provided $8 worth of free printing during the spring and fall semesters, and $4 during the summer semester. This amount is added to accounts the week classes begin, and is removed a week after finals. Free printing balances are not carried over from previous semesters.

Students who are employed by the university as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) do not receive $8/$4 in free printing each semester. GTAs can print for free in the Graduate Student Study located in Watson Library.

Checking Your Printing Balance

Log in to the MyPrint website with your KU Online ID and password to check your printing and copying balance.

Refunds will be granted only for physical issues with a print job, for example: paper jamming/tearing during printing, toner running out, or other printing issues that may occur due to the print system. Refunds will not be granted for print jobs that were mistakenly printed, incorrectly formatted, or were not intended to be printed by the student.

To Request a Refund

  • Go to the MyPrint website, locate your document, and click the Refund button.
  • Contact a staff member in your printing/copying location and provide the damaged documents for approval of your refund.

If approved, the refund amount will be added to your KU Print account. The next time you print, funds will be taken from this account first, before using the funds associated with your free printing or Beak Em' Bucks account.
