Description

GIS (Geographic Information System) software allows you to visualize, query and analyze the geographic aspects of a body of data. KU offers ArcGIS Pro from Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). This desktop application provide rigorous and extensive capabilities for data creation, manipulation, analysis and presentation. ArcGIS Online is a simpler, cloud-based mapping platform. Use it to publish web-maps; analyze, share, and collaborate with data or as part of a story map.

Access

Online

KU-L Faculty, staff and students can access ArcGIS online using their KU Online ID & password. KUMC users may also access ArcGIS online once they have registered themselves as KU-L affiliates. From there, they may register an ESRI account via their KU-L-side Single-Sign-On account in the portal through ArcGIS online to access the platform.

Computer Labs

ArcGIS Pro is available for use in various departmental computer labs and a few public computer labs on the Lawrence campus, including the KU Libraries GIS & Data Lab. ArcGIS Pro is available via KU Virtual Desktop

Download

Once KU-L or KUMC faculty, staff and students have a KU-L online ID and have created an ESRI account through ArcGIS online, they can download ArcGIS Pro free of charge through KU’s Web Store. Once downloaded, users will be prompted to register their downloaded copy through KU-L Single Sign-On at launch, and the product will be associated with their ESRI account.

Support

Technical support requests and bug reports for ESRI software must be submitted to ESRI through one of the KU Authorized Callers. Contact the KU IT Customer Service Center at itcsc@ku.edu or 785-864-8080 for assistance.
