Description

GitLab is an open source software development and IT operations (DevOps) repository and collaboration platform providing online code storage, issue tracking and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD).
 
GitLab is most appropriate for individuals who have technical expertise. As with all KU IT systems and services, use of GitLab must conform to the Acceptable Use of Electronic Information Resources policy. Individuals who use GitLab have the responsibility to take appropriate steps to keep KU data safe.
 
GitLab at KU is not resourced as an enterprise web platform, and is not recommended as a website delivery model or to host a public website.
 
Notes:

  • GitLab at KU runs on a single server
  • Server has regular back ups and patching
  • Limited support is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • No secondary accounts for vendor access
  • GitLab does comes with the ability to create limited access tokens to resources as an alternative to secondary account access.

Access

KU Faculty, staff and students can access GitLab online using their KU Online ID & password.

Support

GitLab at KU is not considered an enterprise platform. Support is provided as "best effort" by the KU IT Customer Service Center at itcsc@ku.edu or 785-864-8080 for assistance. Once we have determined an issue is out of our scope of support, we will provide guidance on next steps. You may need to seek external resources to resolve issues.
