KU Information Technology provides a number of options for developing, hosting and managing websites. The available options vary depending on a number of criteria.
- Content management system (CMS) is the primary platform for departmental websites. KU CMS websites are built on Drupal, an open source content management system. Pre-designed KU templates make it easy for people without web development skills to create and manage websites.
- cPanel is a website hosting platform that provides a provides a graphical interface and automation tools. cPanel websites require web development knowledge and skills, including advanced web programming expertise depending on the complexity of the site.
- Rock Chalk Central is a vendor-provided student engagement platform for registered student groups.

Rock Chalk Central
Students can log into Rock Chalk Central using their KU Online ID and password to register their student organization and create a Rock Chalk Central site. Contact the Student Involvement Leadership Center for more information.
