Summer Technology Support

Summertime may be considered the “off-season” for higher learning, but we know faculty and staff continue to work and do research year-round. Our Technology Support Centers and the IT Customer Service Center (itcsc@ku.edu or 785-864-8080) are available to provide support.

Our Educational Technologists are also available year-round to provide technology support for Canvas and other academic systems, and to consult and provide ideas for using technology to enhance your courses. Now is a perfect time to reach out for assistance with your fall courses.

Contact the KU Educational Technologists:
Lawrence Campus - itedtech@ku.edu or 785-864-2600
Edwards Campus - kuec_edtech@ku.edu or 913-626-9619

"Phone calls move to Teams"

Phone Calls Begin Moving to Teams This Month

Over the past year, we have been planning the transition of our campus phone service from Skype for Business to Teams. As we’ve previously shared, Microsoft is retiring Skype for Business in January 2024.

Our phone service migration starts this month with a pilot project in KU Information Technology. We are starting the migration with our own staff so we can identify and address any issues or complications before we start migrating other campus units. We want your experience to be as seamless as possible.

After we address any potential complications identified during the migration of phone service for KU IT staff, we will work with unit leaders to determine a migration schedule for each unit. You and your unit colleagues will receive more detailed information when the migration schedule for your unit is finalized. If you want to be an early adopter and start using Teams to make phone calls before your unit officially is migrated, complete our early adopter form.

"Multi-factor Authentication"

Duo: Student Pilot Phase Beginning this Summer

Faculty and staff have been using Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) to log in to KU accounts and systems since 2019. Building on this foundation, we will conduct a pilot phase of Duo with a select group of students this summer. This pilot phase will pave the way for the eventual rollout of Duo for all KU students.

"Technology Workshops Enrolling Now"

Upcoming Technology Workshops

Registration is open! KU IT conducts training sessions throughout the year to help faculty and staff use a variety of software applications more effectively. We offer regularly scheduled technology training workshops that are open to everyone, as well as tailored group and one-on-one consultations. Visit our Workshops Calendar to register for upcoming opportunities, or contact our Technology Instruction & Engagement group (tie@ku.edu) for group and one-on-one sessions.

Canvas How to: Find Past Semester Courses

To tidy up course listings and ensure a smooth Canvas experience, Term Conclusion Dates have been implemented in Canvas. Courses from previous terms will no longer appear on your dashboard and will be moved to the Past Enrollments area on the Courses>All Courses page. If you want to override or extend course dates for specific reasons, refer to our Term and Course Dates guide for step-by-step instructions.

Need tech help? Contact the IT Customer Service Center at 785-864-8080 or itcsc@ku.edu. Or, visit our walk-up location in Anschutz Library. Find hours and more on our IT support page.
